Experimental Evaluation of the Punching Shear Strength of Interior Slab-column Connections with Different Shear Reinforcement Details

This research aims to evaluate the effect of using different shear reinforcement details on punching behavior interior slab column connections. A comprehensive experimental program is conducted sixteen specimens having same concrete dimensions 1100×1100×160 mm where depth chosen be less than that stipulated by design codes. The parameters under examination were type arranged in a cross shape perpendicular edges (single leg, multi-leg, and closed stirrups), spacing between stirrups (25 50 mm), extended length covered (300 425 mm). Experimental results showed slabs reinforced with multi-leg or stirrups, even for thickness 160 mm, had an increase capacity up 40% depending stirrup amount. noticeable enhancement ductility was also observed. Slabs vertical single-leg did not exhibit any improvements. finite element analysis further assess tested specimens. comparison test values obtained codes such as ACI 318-19 ECP 203-2018 two give rather underestimated prediction capacity.
